
FOOD FESTIVALS & FAIRS
BRIEF BACKGROUND
The fair has a social dynamic of enormous importance since streamlines the city of Vila do Conde and all neighboring locations. The event attracts every year about 50,000 visitors. In the event are present and highlighted, about seven restaurants. They are chosen annually from all over the country including the islands of Madeira and the Azores. Within the area of the fair there are also small spaces where each small region, by invitation, participate showing their culinary specialties. There are also some stands selling the most remarkable gastronomic products from all over the country, including the traditional bread , cakes, cookies, honey different qualities, all varieties of sausages and smoked pork meat, cheese of the various sources, spices, herbs, oils and vinegars, teas and infusions, marmalade and jams, and as it could not be, all kinds of drinks, from liqueurs and syrups, through the appetizers, sparkling wines of Oporto and Madeira , brandies and other digestive and the immense variety of table wines from different regions of the country. This situation contributes for a unique variety of flavours and regional dishes that reflect all the excellent Portuguese cuisine.
